HOLIDAYS

These holidays I am going up to Whitianga for Christmas with my family. After that we are going up to Tolaga bay to camp for 2-3 weeks!!! The last time i went up to Tolaga bay was last year and I jumped off the wharf which is the longest wharf in the southern hemisphere and im planning to do the same this year!

dinosaur day!!!

Today lots of people went to the northern zones athletics. So Miss Bolger and Mrs Bolger decided we should have a dinosaur day for the people that didn't go to athletics and some year fives (because there teacher went to the athletics).

We got put into groups of four or five then made dinosaur movies with dinosaur figures. They had to have some infomation on dinosaurs in the movies. This took us about three hours and forty five minutes to film edit and complete the movies.

Alice in Wonderland part 3

Hey again,

today I found my chesire cat hat so I took it to school and lots of people asked me why I didnt bring my hat yesterday and the day before, and that was because I only found it this morning. one of the kids from room 2 comes to the P.E. shed to see the cheshire cat.

Sorry about promising a photo in my last post but i cant find the picture but im still looking. People are still asking why i a a chesire cat but not as many people are asking. sadly the chesire cat has go t ripped bgut i will sew him up as soon as I get home.

Alice in Wonderland

This week we have to do something thata character in a book does, Ive decided to do Alice in Wonderland because I have a cheshire cat toy. Alice in wonderland is one of my favourite books. Everyone keeps on asking me why I have a cheshire cat so I have to say it again and again and again (soo annoying) or isnt that Scarlett's cat? because she has the same one but i got it first i didn't copy her. in tomorows post i wiil have a picture of me and my cheshire in 2011.

please comment on wether you think the chesire cat was a good idea

I think we should sell fireworks on new years eve because people stay up to celebrate when it is the first second of the new year. usually it is completely dark so it would be really cool to have fireworks when it is completely dark so we couldnt see anything else.

Dream job

Hey,
my dream job would probably be to be an experimental physicist because you would get to play with lasers and lots of cool things also I think I am pretty good at maths so i would be able to work not just play with lasers. To be an experimental physicist I would have to study maths, physicsand science. I would probably talk to my dads friend who is an experimental physicist.

HOLIDAYS

In the holidays I dint do many things; I mostly walked around town with my sister Gabby. But the most interesting thing I did was when my friend Nayeli/Jelly came to my house and we made a music video to "do you like waffles" using Video Star.                                                                                         this is the link to watch the video

                                                                                                                                  the most interesting thing I have done in school time is the spring fair. I came to the spring fair at 12 p.m. because I had a soccer game , the first thing I did was go and have lunch which was a yummy curry called babi ketchup(it was made by Robert Hunter). After that I mostly played soccer with Samanalie, Aisling and Xara.

 

Elephant

My favourite painting of mine is my elephant. As you can see there is only the front half of the elephant because the rest is covered by trees like the elephant in 'The Dream' (Henri Rousseau's last painting before he died). the colour I used for the skin is black, white and (light) brown. For this painting I used paint and ?.
unfortunatly the picture is not on the wall yet so it will look better once it is.

Hobbies

My hobby is playing netball, in my team I'm the best GD (goal defence). I started playing netball when I was year four, in year four I was a WA (wing attack). But by the start of year six I was starting to be a defender. Every Saturday in winter I would get up at 6:30 a.m. and get ready for my game which was usually at 8:30 a.m., but I usually have to go to my sisters game first. my team came second in our grade after one close loss against the top team. my tteam is made out of seven players they are Aimee (GD), Aisling (GA), Kaity (GS), Samanalie (GK-WD), Elizabeth (WD-GK), Lily (C-WA), Maddy (WA-C) and Melissa was in our team for most of the time as GS.

mediaval times

In the past few weeks we have been building stuff on minecraft. It was my responsibility to build the roads,the bridge and one farm across from the bridge. It was really fun to build the bridge because I was completely in charge of what I did to the bridge. I did the roads with Anastasia who did most of the roads. the reason I chose to use mossy cobble was because they would not have changed the materials they used.     

Medieval Times

This term in our medieval times topic I have learnt about lots of things some include:

• The Plauge
• Knights
• Different roles people who lived in th Medieval times had
• Castles

 I think I learn best when we are having a class discussions or watching a video. I think the roleplaying thing we are doing is a good way to learn how to do live like you are in the medieval times.

I think medieval is a great subject to do for topic becuase everyone was interested in it.

Technology

In tech I have just finished my last week in cooking.Cooking is my favourite thing so far. We have made lots of different types of food some are:

• Spaghetti bolognas
• Hamburgers
• Pikelets
• Macoroni and cheese
• Berry crumble

In tech I started of doing woodwork were I made a spoon, then sewing were we made a pillow , after that I did cooking. In sew I have lernt how to thread a sewing machine, in woodwork I have learnt how to work with different tools.

Medieval times

In topic we are doing medieval times. So far I have learnt about ranks the King is the highest rank and the peasants or surfs are the lowest rank. We have learned about medieval villages and the crops and how they have three feilds one for the animals one for the crops and on to rest the ground.

A few things I would still like to know are:

What did they eat?
how much money they got paid?

One idea I had for a fun activity is to have a medieval day where everybody dresses up in medieval costumes.

Book groups

We started doing book groups and I was in the book group running out of time with Cait, Natasha, Melissa, Elizabeth and Anna. I think it went really well because my group was the first to the craker reward. Also the book was really good.Something that I would do next time is I would make shore that ever'y one gets chance to speak. I learnt from this experience tha it is good to think about what you are reading

basic facts

To improve on my basic facts I need to work on being more familiar with them and work on being faster. I am going to practice my basic facts by printing out a sheet and practicing them all lots then writing them all out then saying them when I am not looking at them. 

St Mary's

Today I went to the St Mary's open day three of the year 13's took us on a tour of  St Mary's and it had way more subjects than I suspected such as food technology, soft materials, physics, german, japanese, french, Maori, music, gym, I.T./digital technology, R.E, english, math, biology, chemistry, art and classical art  . It was a good experience but we might not go there because there are a few other school to consider.

Open day at St Mary's Collage

Tomorrow the year eight girls and I will be going to the St Mary's Collage open day from 8:00 am - 10:00am. The others are going to St Brigid's for Catholic schools day. I hope to meet nice people and not be afraid to ask questions. Hopefully this experience will help me decide where I want to go for collage. I also want to see what clubs  and classes they have so if I go there I can start to decide what I want to be in. to make the day go better I will ask questions so that everyone knows the answer.

Financial Literacy

Hi,

Yesterday a dude came to teach us about getting a job and how to save money. He also told us about eftpos cards and credit cards. He told us if you borrow money from the bank the longer you don't pay back the more it will cost you this is called interest. I think the main ideas of this lesson were to pick a job that lets you do what you like doing (or is what you like doing)....the other main idea is to "spend some on you but save some to".



I think these relate to me because I don't really save money.  I think that I need to change that i spend all my money when I get it.

Stats

Hey,
Yesterday we finished stats for maths to start we had a test but we did the test again and I improved 33% YAY. Most people improved lots like I did but some people who at the where already great didn't change much.
I need to work on reading questions more carefully so I can understand them.
I have improved in understanding what more things mean.
I asked my friends questions that helped me understand more things so that I got a lot better score.

EOTC week

hey it's Aimee here
Last week I went to E.O.T.C week on Monday we went up Mount Kaukau and then we went to tech. On Tuesday we did quizzes in the morning and in the after noon we went down to Nairnville for the rest of the day. On Wednesday we went to the film festival the first play was called the man who planted trees the second play was called the man the sea saw the last play was called sky dancer. On Thursday we went to the Carter Observatory, The Museum of City and Sea and the City Gallery. at the City Gallery we made clay Taniwhas. On Friday we went to Pataka museum and saw a exhibit by Niki Hastings-McFall that was made of leis then we made our own. After that we went to the pool and then came back to school.
